About Promptify

Almost everyone can recognise instantly that they like an image. Very few people can say why in words a machine will act on. That gap is the single biggest reason AI image results disappoint: the prompt was vague, so the model filled the gaps with whatever is statistically average, and average is what makes generated images look interchangeable.

Promptify exists to close that gap from the other direction. Rather than asking you to invent vocabulary from nothing, it reads something you already like and hands back the description behind it — subject, framing, lighting, palette, type, layout — in language you can edit.

The project started from a repeated frustration: keeping a set of images or layouts visually consistent. Producing one good result is easy enough with patience. Producing ten that clearly belong together requires the look to exist as a written description you can hold constant while the subject changes.

Once the image tool worked, the same idea turned out to apply to design references. A web page or a poster is also a set of decisions someone made — grid, palette, type scale, hierarchy — and those decisions can be read and written down. That is where the website and poster tools came from.

Designers who need to brief a direction precisely instead of attaching a screenshot. Photographers studying the lighting and lens behaviour behind a frame they admire. Developers and product teams describing an interface direction before a rebuild. Marketers keeping a campaign coherent across many assets. And anyone learning to write prompts, for whom the output works as a worked example.

Describe, do not clone. The output is a description of an approach. It is meant to help you make your own work in a direction you like, not to reproduce someone else's image or brand.

Evidence over invention. The website tool reads real stylesheets and renders the real page rather than guessing at a plausible design, and the image tools are instructed to describe what is visible instead of embellishing.

Keep nothing. Uploads are processed and discarded. There is no account to create, no gallery of your files, and no training on what you send.

Teach, do not gate. The guides explain how prompts work well enough that you could stop using the tool and still write better prompts. That seems like the right trade.

The near-term goal is accuracy: descriptions that hold up against the reference, especially for web pages, where a wrong palette or an invented section makes the whole brief useless. Alongside that, the guides are being extended so the site is genuinely useful to read even if you never upload anything.
